Logistics

I’m leaving China in two weeks, and going to Rome to see Stick. I can hardly believe that my China year is over. And I’m going to see Stick again! In Rome, which is the classicist equivilent of Disneyland. And then I’ll be spending Christmas back home in New Jersey.

I was talking to my dad yesterday, and he asked if I was excited to come home.

“I’m a little nervous, you know, ’cause I don’t have a job or an apartment for when I move back to the State,”

“Oh, those are just logistics.” he said. “Don’t worry,”

Dad: “oh don’t worry, things always come through. you can always make things happen.”

    Mom: “WHAT??!?”

  2. Stick says:

As far as leaving your students, it is hard to do…just make your last days with them special. ^__^

Hey, here’s a trick I’ve been wanting to test. Unfortunately, I have 9 months before I’ll be able to test it.

If you really want to make leaving easier, try doing these things:

1] Give the kids an amount of homework that 10 of them could hope to complete in three months over the course of the next two weeks.

2] Tell them that their English sucks and no-one loves them… IN CHINESE.

3] Give the worst kid in the class candy and don’t let the others have any.

    4] Come to work drunk.

That’s all I can think of right now, so let me know if you decide to implement any of them. Worst comes to worst you can simply have a teary goodbye session. I wouldn’t recommend it though. Best to go out with a bang than a red-eyed puffy-faced mewling contest.

    Of course, that’s just me.

Have fun in Rome! Eat lots of pasta!

Ummm… are you seriously being sponsored by Dr. Pistone? I remember hearing his commercials on Y-100 radio in Philadelphia. I think he used to go on the Preston and Steve morning show there.

    How did that work?

  9. Meg says:

haha Bethie — that’s exactly what Mom and Dad said when I wanted to go to Cambridge.

Chinese Reader and Joy… thank you so much! I’m so happy that Chinese visitors think my site’s worth reading!
