Odd News

We turned on the TV for a few moments while we were setting up an episode of House, and we ended up watching CCTV9 for quite a while as the newsanchor read a list of countries who support the middle kingdom’s actions in that place with all the mountains. It was a pretty extensive list, but as we watched, I felt like the worst dumb-American stereotype ever, because there were countries I’d never heard of, and some names I recognized, but couldn’t find on a map.

There were some countries that I instantly recognized, but I’m not sure that saying North Korea agrees with your actions is really the best way to prove legitimacy.

I always found the CIA’s World Fact Book great for learning about a country I didn’t know anything about. It is more like an almanac than Wikipedia.

Well, at least North Korea didn’t attack any country within last 50 years whereas US keep invading country after country violating all international laws.

So if US support something then for sure it has no legitimacy whatsoever. US don’t support anything lawful.

Anonymous commenting on a small-time blog will definitely show those imperialists the error of their ways.

But they’re the Democratic People’s Republic! Doesn’t that count for anything!

Well, I believe that even on a “small-time blog” every pro-imperialist comment deserves anti-imperialist comment. Although it’s not about “those imperialists”, it’s about “those Americans”. Surprisingly, all governments (even not democratically elected) just represent its people, except of course puppet governments installed by US.

That last comment was from Kevin, I forgot to put in my name.

I was commenting to say how funny that is, but seeing your blog described as “pro-imperialist” is even funnier.

You should get rid of “getting the tones wrong since 2006” (never really liked that one) and put up “puppet blog installed by the American government”

  11. Meg says:

Grr, Steve, I’m starting to think I’m the only person who thinks Getting The Tones Wrong Since 2006 is funny! I guess being a foreigner who can’t speak proper Chinese isn’t that funny.

“Well, at least North Korea didn’t attack any country within last 50 years whereas US keep invading country after country violating all international laws.” You are correct…it’s been almost 58 years. On June 25,1950 the North Korean army crossed the 38th parallel into South Korea. And as far as “violating all international laws”, the six-party talks were a response to the North Korean violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty signed on December 12, 1985 by the DPRK and violated on April 10, 2003. Wow, it’s fun to talk politics on a blog with an anonymous person!
