1) Hushpuppies
2) Biscuits
3) If you turn on the radio, you can always find Creedence Clearwater Revival playing on one station or another.

i’ve discovered that Creedence Clearwater Revival has nothing to do with the Clearwater Revival that happens every year on the Hudson by the way. It’s just a coincidence name.
Just in case you were wondering. because I was.

There is a place here in Columbia called Harbor Inn that has the best Hush Puppies I have ever had. And there honey mustard sauce is the bomb.

@ Bethie I never made that connection before… I just think driving in the South is like being in Dad’s car. Well without the big band stuff.
@Gabby The best? AWESOME! But is there such things as a *bad* hushpuppy?

Bad? No, I don’t think I have had a bad hush puppy, but there are the few that rise above the standard.

I gotta say, biscuits is first on my list of things to love about the South and to miss when you live instead in NJ. I’ll take just about any biscuit, but my favorite is my Mom’s, crisp on the outside, doughy in the middle, fresh out of the oven. She, inexplicably, makes them for me every morning whenever I’m home. I’m spoiled in the best way.
