I got some paperbacks at Wangfujing, but it was quite risky paying 200-400RMB for a novel! Can’t spend that on one read!! It did steer me towards some of the classics I’d been meaning to read, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

They don’t seem to have your Apple crack yet, but the Starbucks in Beijing are definitely ramping up the “Christmas spirit” (and they do offer Toffee Nut latte’s, which are almost as good and addictive). I’m also definitely with you on the english print material, you can get US magazines, but I can never seem to convince myself that reading GQ is worth RMB80…
